Barefoot Meditation

The first idea for this piece was a scale built on 2 disjoint tetrachords in 12EDO:
C Db E F and G Ab B C
I called this scale "Pseudo Asian"
Then I thought I could improve the “exotic” effect using 5 limit Just Intonation and came up with this scale:
1/1, 16/15, 5/4, 4/3, 3/2, 8/5, 15/8, 2/1
that I called "Pseudo Asian 5 limit"
With the help of the invaluable LMSO I assigned the 7 notes of this scale to the 7 white keys of my "Halberstadt keyboard" and started improvising.
The movie came after the song was ready. I adjusted its length to fit the song. The feet you see are mine walking in my garden. I can tell you that it is a great pleasure to walk barefoot feeling the grass underneath.
The title came with the movie, of course.
I will explain the technical details of this piece for Kurzweil PC3x and Spectrasonics Omnisphere in a future entry of this blog, mostly to make sure I will be able to recall the intricacies of this piece in the future.
